This 4-week virtual educational series is designed to educate participants about the importance of bone health and lifestyle factors for optimizing bone health. Sessions are provided by a team of Occupational Therapists, Dietitians and Pharmacists from the Caroline and Burlington Family Health Teams.
Program goals include:
- Providing education about the basics of bone health, including the definitions of low bone mass and osteoporosis.
- Reviewing daily requirements for calcium and vitamin D, how to get them from food products/supplements and potential impact of medications on bone health.
- Identifying lifestyle factors for bone health and facilitating positive changes.
- Exercise principles and recommendations will be reviewed.
Where: Virtually using the platform Zoom (upon registration you will receive a link).
When: The program consists of one hour sessions offered once per week for 4 consecutive weeks.
The program is repeated throughout the year.
Who: Individuals who are interested in healthy aging and bone health.
